STATEMENT ON THE EFFECTS OF TROPICAL CYCLONE IDAI IN MANICALAND, EASTERN ZIMBABWE

The Zimbabwe Youth Biodiversity Network and its members have learnt with sadness and deep grief about the devastating  effects of   the tropical Cyclone Idai  which occurred on the 16th of March 2019. We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the affected families and friends.

Many people have lost their lives, homes have been destroyed  rendering them homeless and property was been lost , power has been disrupted, bridges washed away and livestock was also affected. The full impact of the cyclone is yet to be established.

However, we are appealing to all Zimbabweans and the world to assist wherever possible. Due to damage that the cyclone has left in these areas there is immediate need for assistance to help lives. The situation is drastic and there is need for assistance in tents, food, drinking water, blankets and other items.

When tragedy strikes it is the duty of the community and nation at large  to joins hands together to help those that have been affected.
